Helteet Saapuivat... / Heat Wave Arrived ...

RIVI 3: Tee 2 KS:aa ensimmäiseen silmukkaan, virkkaa 1 KS seuraavaan silmukkaan. Malli: 2 KS, 1 KS, 2 KS, 1 KS..., Toista 6 kertaa. Rivin 3:n lopussa sinulla pitäisi olla 18 silmukkaa

RIVI 4: Virkkaa 2 KS ensimmäiseen silmukkaan, virkkaa vielä 1 KS seuraavaan silmukkaan, virkkaa vielä yksi KS kolmanteen silmukaan. Malli: 2 KS, 1 KS, 1 KS, 2 KS, 1 KS, 1 KS..., Toista 6 kertaa. Rivin 4:n lopussa sinulla pitäisi olla 24 silmukkaa

RIVI 5: Virkkaa 2 KS ensimmäiseen silmukkaan, virkkaa 3 x 1 KS:aa seuraaviin silmukoihin. Malli: 2 KS, 1 KS, 1 KS, 1 KS, 2 KS, 1 KS, 1 KS, 1 KS..., Toista 6 kertaa. Rivin 5:n lopussa sinulla pitäisi olla 30 silmukkaa

RIVI 6: Virkkaa 2 KS ensimmäiseen silmukkaan, virkkaa 4 x 1 KS::aa seuraaviin silmukoihin. Malli: 2 KS, 1 KS, 1 KS, 1 KS, 1 KS, 2 KS, 1 KS, 1 KS, 1 KS, 1 KS..., Toista 6 kertaa. Rivin 6:n lopussa sinulla pitäisi olla 30 silmukkaa

Ota mittanauha ja mittaa ympyräsi halkaisija. Sen pitäisi vasta alussa saamaasi mittaustulosta. Tämän mallin pohjan ympyrä on tässä kohtaa 8 cm ( 3 1/4 tuumaa) halkaisijaltaan.

Jos vesipullosi on suurempi, jatka lisäyskerrosten tekoa mallilla: 2 KS samaan silmukkaan ja tee seuraaviin silmukoihin 5 x 1 KS:aa. Toista 6 kertaa. Seuraava rivi alkaa 2 KS:lla samaan silmukkaan ja seuraaviin silmukoihin 6 x 1 KS:aa jne. Malli pysyy muuten samana, sinulla on vain isompi pohjaympyrä.

RIVI 7 - 10: Virkkaa 1 KS jokaiseen silmukaan.

RIVI 11:

Virkkaa PS seuraavaan silmukkaan. Tämä kiinnittää kaikki KS rivit. Virkkaa 4 KJS (kolme silmukkaa lasketaan yhdeksi pylvääksi and yksi ketjusilmukka toimii välinä). Virkkaa vielä yksi P samaan silmukaan, hyppää 2:n silmukan yli, ja etsi kolmas silmukka. Virkkaa kolmanteen silmukkaan P, 1 KJS, P, hyppää 2:n silmukan yli. Malli: P, KJS 1, P, hyppää 2:n silmukan yli, P, KJS 1, P, hyppää 2:n silmukan yli...Lopussa sinulla pitäisi olla vielä kaksi silmukkaa jäljellä, jotka hypätään yli, etsi kolmas silmukka ja tee siihen yksi PS

Rivin 11 alussa tehdään 4 ketjusilmukaa and yksi pylväs, joten voit laskea kolmannen ketjusilmukan alhaalta ja tehdä siihen yhden PS tai vaihtoehtoisesti voit etsiä alussa tekemäsi 4 ketjusilmukaa ja laskea päältä hyppäämällä yhden silmukan yli ja tekemällä sitten yksi PS, jos tämä on sinulle helpompi.

  • Rivin 11 lopussa sinulla pitäisi olla 12 "V":n kaltaista silmukaa
Jokainen "V"-silmukka rivi päättyy PS:llä V:n keskelle ja rivit alkaa 4:llä KJS:lla. Muista, että 4 KJS:aa lasketaan ykdeksi pylvääksi (PS) ja älä sekaannu kolmio muodosta V:n välissä. Sinulla pitäisi olla 12 "V" silmukkaa jokaisella rivillä!

RIVI 12 - 20: Virkkaa KJS 4, virkkaa vielä yksi PS samaan silmukkaan, etsi seuraava "V" ja tee yksi PS, KJS 1, PS. Malli: PS, KJS PS. Päätä rivi PS:lla kolmanteen silmukkaan. Aloita uusi rivi tekemällä PS "V":n keskelle. Sinulla pitäisi olla 12 "V" silmukkaa kokoajan

Rivin 20 päättyessä, sinulla pitäisi olla 10 "V"-riviä. Rivin 20 lopussa sinun täytyy tehdä vain yksi PS kolmanteen silmukkaan, mutta älä tee PS:aa "V":n keskelle.

RIVI 21: Virkkaa KJS 1 ja tee 1 KS samaan silmukkaan, virkkaa 1 KS "V":n keskelle, virkkaa 1 KS jokaiseen silmukaan. Sinulla pitäsi edelleen olla 36 silmukkaa. Päätä rivi PS:lla ensimmäiseen ketjusilmukkaan jonka teit alussa

RIVI 22: Virkkaa KJS 1 ja tee 1 KS samaan silmukkaan, virkkaa 1 KS jokaiseen silmukaan. Päätä rivi PS:lla ensimmäiseen ketjusilmukkaan jonka teit alussa. Rivin 22:n lopussa sinulla pitäisi olla 36 silmukkaa. Leikkaa lanka ja päättele työ

KAHVA:

Vasen: kahva takaanta, Oikea:kahva edestä
Ennen kahvan aloittamista on hyvä miettiä miten haluat   vesipullopidikettä kantaa.

KAHVA RIVI 1: Ota mittaustulos muistiin vaikka paperille.

KAHVA RIVI 2: Aloita toisesta ketjusilmukasta koukusta laskien, Tee jokaiseen KJS:aan yksi KS.

Now I have really enjoyed these warm weather. It is wonderful that finally the heat came to Finland, when the spring was cold, windy and snowy for a long time. I already thought that summer would not come this year.

In this blog post, I share instructions for making a water bottle holder. I originally did this for myself for work because I move around on a bike handing out magazines and so on hot days I need a drink along. The design of my bike is such that no ready-made water bottle holder can fit in it and I wanted this holder to be easy to carry as well as use.

Photo of my own water bottle holder. I used cotton yarn because it´s durable,
heat and water resistant. It absorbs extra water and can be easily washed.

This water bottle holder is also wonderful to take with you for walks, picnics or jogging. You don’t need a lot of yarn for this crochet project.

That is, let's start:
  • Hook: 5 mm (H or 8 in US, size 6 in UK)
  • Scissors
  • Cotton yarn about 60 grams (130 yards)
  • Yarn needle
  • Mesuring tape
The bottom of the instruction water bottle holder is 3 and 1/4 inch (8 cm), but this can also be made larger if needed.

Find widest part of your water bottle and run your measure tape across, do not measure circumference of your bottle!

This water bottle holder design works pretty average water bottle but if your water bottle is bigger or skinnier, measure your bottle so you will know measure of your base circle that matches with your water bottle. The design is also bit stretchy.

ROW 1:

Make a magic circle, Work 6 SC in the circle (crochet your short tail as well), Grab your short tail and tighten it up

TIP: You can use stitch marker to help you keep track of your stitches. You can place your stitch marker in the first or last stitch so you will know when the row is done.

ROW 2: Insert your hook in the first ST and make two SC in the same ST, Work two SC in each ST. End of the row 2, you should have 12 ST in total

TIP: You can work your short tail as well if you like so you don´t need to weave it later in.

ROW 3: Work 2 SC in the first ST, Work 1 SC in the next ST. Pattern: 2 SC, 1 SC, 2 SC, 1 SC..., Repeat 6 times. End of the row 3, you should have 18 ST in total

ROW 4: Work 2 SC in the first ST, Work 1 SC in the next ST, Work one more SC in the third ST. Pattern: 2 SC, 1 SC, 1 SC, 2 SC, 1 SC, 1 SC..., Repeat 6 times. End of the row 4, you should have 24 ST in total

ROW 5: Work 2 SC in the first ST, Work 3 x 1 SC in following ST:s. Pattern: 2 SC, 1 SC, 1 SC, 1 SC, 2 SC, 1 SC, 1 SC, 1 SC..., Repeat 6 times. End of the row 5, you should have 30 ST in total

ROW 6: Work 2 SC in the first ST, Work 4 x 1 SC in following ST:s. Pattern: 2 SC, 1 SC, 1 SC, 1 SC, 1 SC, 2 SC, 1 SC, 1 SC, 1 SC, 1 SC..., Repeat 6 times. End of the row 6, you should have 36 ST in total

Take your measuring tape and measure the diameter of your circle. It should match to your measuring result at the beginning. This pattern, the base circle should be at this point 3 1/4 inches (8 cm) in diameter.

If your water bottle is bigger, continue increasing pattern: start with 2 SC in the same ST, followed by 5 x SC in next five stitches. Repeat it 6 times. Next row begins with 2 SC in the same ST, followed by 6 SC in next six stitches and so on and so on. Rest of the pattern will remaining same, you just have larger base circle.

ROW 7 - 10: Work 1 SC in each ST. No increasing and check that your stitch count stays in 36 all the time. If you made bigger circle, count your stitches at the end of row 6 so you will know how much stitches you should have. End of the row 10, you should have a small cup like dish.

ROW 11:

Make a SL ST in the next ST to fasten off all of SC rows, CH 4 (chain three act like DC and one CH act like a space), Make one more DC in the same ST, Skip 2 ST and find third CH and work DC, CH 1, DC, skip 2 ST. Pattern: DC, CH 1, DC, skip 2 ST, DC, CH 1, DC, skip 2 ST...At the end, you should have two ST left, which you´re gonna skip, find third CH and make a SL ST.

At the beginning of row 11, you chained 4 followed by one regular DC, so count at the beginning the third chain and make the SL ST or alternatively you can count from the top by looking your chain 4 and skipping the fourth chain and make the SL ST if that´s easier for you
  • End of the row 11, you should have total 12 "V"-shape ST:s
Every "V"-stitch row ends with SL ST in the middle of the "V" and each row begins with CH 4. Remember that CH 4 counts as a DC and don´t get confused about the triangle shape between "V" ST:s. You should have 12 "V" ST:s in every row!

ROW 12 - 20: CH 4, Work one DC in the same ST. Find next "V" and work one DC, CH 1, DC. Pattern: DC, CH 1, DC, DC, CH 1, DC... End each row with SL ST in third chain and start new row with SL ST in the middle of "V". You should have 12 "V" ST:s all the time

End of the row 20, you should have 10 rows of "V" ST:s. At the end of row 20, you only need to SL ST in the third CH but do not make SL ST in the middle of "V" ST.

ROW 21: CH 1 from where you are and make 1 SC in the same ST where you just joined, make 1 SC in the center of "V" ST, work 1 SC in every ST. You still should have 36 ST. Join with SL ST your SC row in the top of first SC that you made at the begin

ROW 22: CH 1 and work 1 SC in the same ST, Work 1 SC in every ST. Join the rown with SL ST in the first SC you made at the begin. End of the row 22, you should have 36 ST:s. Cut the yarn and sew the tail in

STRAP:

Left side: back side, Right side: front side
Before starting your strap, think where you want to carry your water bottle holder. Do you want to carry it in your hands or do you want it hang in your hip? This determine how long strap you´re gonna need.

I made pretty short strap with four rows since I wanted to carry my water bottle in my hands. What didn´t I count that this pattern is bit stretchy and weight of the water will press it little lower especially when the water bottle is full so take that in your count too when you think where you want to carry your water bottle holder.

If you want to carry your water bottle in your hip, place the bottle holder in that place where you want it to be and maybe bit higher since strap is going to be a bit stretchy too and weight of the water will press the bottle lower.  Measure across all over your body like your strap is going to be.

STRAP ROW 1: Look your measure result, it could be 42 inches (106 cm) or less, leave about 12 inches (30 cm) tail, make a SL ST and start chaining the length of your strap, add one more chain for turning

Chain the length that fits your purpose and if you measure it, don´t include the long tail in your measure result.

STRAP ROW 2: Start from second CH from hook, work one SC in every ST, CH 1 and turn your work

Repeat the row 2 until you have strap width that you like. In my opinion, with row four gets nice straps that´s comfortable to carry in hands and my water bottle holder has last all these hot days even it hangs from my bicycle handlebar.

Cut equally long tail as begin and sew it on the water bottle holder.

Korut & Talvi

Innostuin virkkaamisesta, kun valmistuin sisustussuunnittelijaksi parisen vuotta sitten.Tässä kuvassa on kaikki itse virkkaamani sydän korvakorut, joita on saatavilla BlueBellJewelryn Etsy kaupasta.

Minna

Busy Bee’s Week...

This week has been so busy for me that I forgot to write weekly blog post so sorry about that.

This week I got extra area where I distributed local ads and newspapers. This work is usually once a week and I enjoyed to doing it because the work is very independent, I get my exercise routine done when I need to carry all those newspapers and ads and I also get weekly stair train done. I’ve planned my own route and I can also decide my working hours. Paid isn’t good but still got some extra money especially when my Etsy shop haven’t got any sales this year yet but I’m remaining hopeful that things will pick up soon.

I made new jewelry for BlueBellJewelry but haven’t got yet photos since days have been very stormy. It’s probably leftovers Dennis storm that UK have. I’m excited about new choker necklaces that I made.

I got the glitter faux suede leathers and made three different chokers that I would love to listing soon as possible in my Etsy shop.

Love these glitter faux suede cords and these four leaf clove charms
are perfect addition to bring you luck

As many of you might know, I’m enthusiastic crocheter and now I’m working ear warmers to my friend who usually wear beanies during Winter but she ordered from me now ear warmer that I started to make for her.
This pink yarn is very soft but kind of hard crochet since it’s little furry so
I can’t see the stitches that I need to so I need to feel the next stitch with my
fingers. I feel like I’m blind crocheter 😂

Crochet Choker Necklace

Today I wanted you tell you more about my crochet choker necklaces.
I got excited about crocheting last Summer. It seemed to come to me naturally after my Interior Design school ended. I found it so relaxing and even fun. My first crochet projects were bag handles and hearts.

I start to spend more and more time to learn new techniques. I´m not professional as a crocheting but I´ve always enjoyed crafts, learning new and doing things with my hands.

I would love to show you my first butterfly that I made but apparently my cats has
destroyed them while ago so here´s couple butterflies that my grandma has made
I remember that my grandmother, who passed away two years ago was crocheting too. I remember that she has crocheted doilies and little butterflies for charity. She taught me to crochet little butterfly too when I admired them on her refrigerator door and asked if they were hard to make. When I came home, I search for yarn so I can make butterflies too. I got my first crochet hook from my mom and suitable yarn too. I made couple butterflies as fridge magnet but my first cat liked to stole them and play with them. My cat liked more of my grandmother´s butterflies than mine so I´m happy that I still got couple left that my grandma has made. It´s kind of bonus that you can make by accidentally easily cat toys. 😂

My version of crochet butterfly nowadays
Everything started when I found flower pendants and though what am I going to do with them. I looked my shop to see what kind of necklaces I already have and wondered how I going to use these flower cabochons.
My problem solved when I was internship place beginning of this year and when I told co-worker that I make jewelry on my free time, she offered me her old jewelry parts what she has kept in her drawers couple decade. In home I curiously explore what treasures was inside the bag and found pendant settings. I tried on my flower cabochons and they were perfect match. My vision was to make a necklace from them but I wasn´t sure what kind necklace that would be.

One day I was sitting in my desk and suddenly my mind came idea of choker necklace. I wanted it to simple, not too wide and still beautiful like a lace. I found instructions which was easy to follow so I made my first crochet choker necklace. I attached my flower pendant into necklace and it was perfect new necklace to my shop.

This kind of necklace adds modern
bohemian look into any outfit
I´m not actually choker necklace person but this is surprisingly comfortable to wear.

Everyday is little bit different, some day specific jewelry feels uncomfortable and other day you wonder why I haven´t wear this. This happens me all the time mainly with clothes! So that´s why I have added in my choker necklace short extension chain so you have little space to adjust the necklace as you want.

Some might think that white is too delicate color that gets dirty easily by make-up etc. I´ve solved that problem too since I can make this in other colors too. I got total 8 different colors where you can choose from and of course I can also get to specific color if you like. The yarn what I´m using is 100 % cotton.

If you are interest about my choker necklaces, I have them in my shop: BlueBellJewelry.etsy.com and I can also customize this for you at no additional cost.

I hope you enjoyed to read my blog text and feel free to leave comment. I would love to hear what you think about and happily answer any question you have.

Have a beautiful day!
